POLICIES – Fall 2010
Enrollment: Please remember that enrollment is for nine months(Students may drop and then re-enroll without paying an additional registration fee.) August 25, 2010 through Recital 2011. Notice of a drop must be given two weeks in advance in writing. A message through a friend is not acceptable. Failure to notify will result in continued tuition charges. Tuition is due in full for the month in which a student drops.
Attendance: Absenteeism is very disturbing to the learning process. Missing a lesson due to travel or illness is understandable, but please try not to schedule other activities or appointments at class time.
Holidays: The studio will observe the holiday schedule in this calendar. Please see the Calendar section for dates. If we have ice, snow, etc, which causes school closures, it may not necessarily cause the studio to close. Please call 251-9161 for information concerning classes or check our website, www.tinkasdance.com.
Placement: Students are placed in classes according to their ability, age and dedication. We do our best to place students in classes that are challenging and fun for them. If we feel a change is warranted, we will notify you. If for some reason you or your child have a question or problem with the class they are attending, please contact the studio so that we may discuss it
Arrival and Departure From Classes: All students are asked to enter the studio from the back entrance as soon as they arrive and wait in the waiting area until their class begins. Students will not be allowed to wait for a ride outside the studio. They must remain inside until parents/guardian arrive to take them home. If you make arrangements to have someone we do not know pick up your child, please, in a written note, make the child and teacher aware of who that person will be.
Recitals: Tinka’s offers fully costumed recitals every year. The recital is a final climax to a year of hard work. The recital fee is due March 1, 2011 and is payment for recital, rehearsals, and rental of the venue and technicians. The fee also entitles you to bring as many guests as you like to the recital free of charge. This year’s recital fee will be $80 for the first child and $30 for each additional child.
Costumes: A costume deposit of $55.00 per costume (for each class) will be collected Nov 1(Late orders will be $25 extra charge per costume). If your dancer takes more than one class, there may be a costume and costume fee for each class. We measure students and do our very best to be sure costumes fit. If there is a slight alteration needed when costumes arrive it will be up to the parent to have it done. The costume balance will be due upon delivery of the costume to the student or at the time of order if it exceeds $55. We try very hard to keep costume prices down. Most costumes will cost no more than $55.00, but there will be some exceptions to this rule. Costumes will not be handed out until tuition and costume balances are up to date.
Trophies: Perfect attendance trophies will be awarded only to those students missing no classes in all subjects through the year, including rehearsals and recital, beginning August 2010. Trophies for 2 years or more will be awarded only to those students enrolled for the entire term, beginning in August, and that are in the recital.
Parent’s Observation: Parents are not allowed inside the classroom during regularly scheduled classes. Although this may not upset your child, it could distract others. Waiting rooms with televisions for viewing of ongoing classes are available to parents. There will be two visitation days for parents to visit the classroom per year.
Dance Attire: We consider it absolutely essential that the correct dance clothes be worn so that the teacher may observe the body to give corrections in movements and alignment. Hair must be pulled back and kept away from the face for all classes. Jewelry needs to be left at home. Please do not send your child to class without socks or tights … tap shoes will rub blisters. Please provide your child with a dance bag so that he/she can keep up with shoes in class. Any dancer not properly dressed for class may be asked to sit and observe. PLEASE LABEL DANCE ATTIRE AND EQUIPMENT WITH CHILD’S NAME. It is easy to write your child’s name in ballet shoes with a ballpoint pen. Tap shoes may be labeled inside or name can be written in the instep area of the sole. Please put elastic in tap shoes in place of ties if your dancer is too young to tie quickly.
Shoe Resale: You may leave your old tap and ballet shoes at the studio for resale.
Personal Notes: We cannot be responsible for articles left in the studio or misplaced. No one is allowed in the classroom except students enrolled in the particular class in progress and studio employees. We are not responsible for any injuries sustained while in the classroom or on the premises. We cannot be responsible for children left before or after class. We do not allow food, drinks or gum in the classroom or lobby. We reserve the right to discipline any student in this school in a fair and non-physical way. We reserve the right to dismiss any student or parent who disrupts the harmony of our school.
